The Department of State (“DOS”) published its updated fee schedule for Consular Services – Nonimmigrant and Special Visa Fees. Beginning May 30, 2023, there will be an increase in fees charged for nonimmigrant visas (“NIVs”) and border crossing cards (“BCCs”). The good news is that the fee increases are less than “originally proposed for all categories of NIVs.” Specifically, the following increases will take place:
The application processing fee for H, L, O, P, Q, and R category NIVs visas will increase to $205 from the current $190 fee;
E category NIVs will increase to $315 from the current $205 fee;
The fee for non-petition based NIVs including B-1/B-2 and F-1 visas will be increased to $185 from the current $160 fee; and
The processing fee for the BCCs for Mexican citizens aged fifteen and over will be increased to $185 from the current $160 fee.
DOS is not proceeding with the proposed a planned fee increase for the J-1 exchange visitor waiver of the two-year residency requirement at this time. The J waiver will be maintained at the current $120 rate.
