WHO WE ARE

We are a woman-, minority-, and immigrant-owned and led company. We pride ourselves on being approachable and friendly, treating each case with the sensitivity we would want if it was our own family member’s immigration status at stake. Our attorneys are supported by highly experienced and talented paralegals, legal writers, and administrative staff.

Our team of attorneys and paralegals bring years of experience focused exclusively on immigration law, consulting with each other to bring the full breadth of that expertise to every case.

MANAGING PARTNER

Protima Daryanani

Protima Daryanani

Protima Daryanani is the Managing Partner of the Daryanani Law Group. An immigrant herself, Protima was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but moved to London in 1978. A decade later, she moved to the United States to attend Brown University from where she graduated in 1992 with a double major in Political Science and Comparative Literature. In 1996, Protima received her J.D. from Emory University School of Law.

Protima launched her career in immigration law as an associate attorney with Avirom & Associates in New York City. In addition to building her business practice, she also worked on many asylum and deportation defense cases. She won a significant case in Federal court, Zgombic v. Farquaharson (U.S. District of Connecticut), and even though the case was later remanded by the 2nd Circuit, key legal arguments she made in that case were ultimately accepted by the Supreme Court ten years later (in Vartelas v. Holder).

Protima joined Eric M. Bland P.C. as an associate in 2001. Together she and Eric built the practice around their interests in the arts, fashion, sports, and entertainment, and ultimately founded Daryanani & Bland, PC (now Daryanani Law Group, PC) in 2008. Protima represents multinational individual and corporate clients in various fields including entertainment, architecture, design, arts, and fashion. She oversees all immigration matters and develops case strategies for individual clients, senior management, and human resource staff. She manages the growing consular practice and has built a wide network of international attorneys who can help with outbound immigration matters. She also provides assistance in corporate policy development and its consistent legal application.

Protima is admitted to the State Bar of New York and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). As an expert in immigration for the arts and entertainment communities, Protima is frequently asked to speak on immigration law panels for the American Bar Association and New York City Bar Association, most recently for the Rome District Chapter of AILA and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Proficient in French and Italian, Protima also has a cursory understanding of Spanish, Hindi, and Sindhi. Protima is a British national who became a US Citizen in 2012. She enjoys international travel, film and theatre, architecture, tennis (especially when Roger Federer is playing), and trying new restaurants.
